I have a 2007 Yukon Xll Denali....I am noticing a strange clunking...rattleing noise that seems to be coming from the driver's side area. It seems to be worse when turning and over rougher road conditions. I can't feel it in the steering wheel. I have had numerous things replaced in an attempt to fix it. Any thoughts?

After a long day at the dealer....i am confused and broke! I was told my upper ball joints were shot and needed to be replaced. I asked if they were sure this was the cause of the noise. They said they could not be totally sure, but it needed to be done anyways. I also had a tire sensor that was replaced. They came to be in the waiting room with more bad news...broken left motor mount and bad left strut! As I started crying...well I didn't cry but I wanted to. I left it and came home...total quoted price 2100.....thoughts?

If I were in your situation, I would not have taken my truck to the dealer, but if you hadn't you may not have known of the other issues. I would spring her out, purchase all the parts needed and do all the work myself. I believe if you have even a bit of mechanical know how, with a little help from a buddy and the forum, you could definitly tackle it. :)

^ +1! I once had a motor mount break and the dealer did quote me 780 bucks to replace ONE motor mount.

I purchased the part (motormount rubber block) on line for 28 bucks shipped and replaced it with a buddy while bonding and drinking a couple of beers.

I also find it strange that an '07 has a broken motor mount already?????

Seriously, pick peoples brains. It's the best way to understand how to do something. Say you want to know how to pull the strut out and replace it......I guarantee someone you talk to has done it and will gladly tell you how easy it is, as well as how to do it. *You will save yourself $hundreds$, even $thousands$ doing it yourself.

Just picked up the ride from the dealership and the upper ball joints Were shot. The noise is completely gone. I know I could have saved money doing it myself but my schedule is crazy and I just did not have the time. Strut and motor mount also changed out. On a side note, I am missing a nob on the back radio/fan control. Can you believe they will not sale a nob...you have to purchase the whole damn unit. That's crazy to me. Over all my experience with the dealership was a positive experience . The service manager madevitvso...he really showed me cared about my situation.
