Have an oul leak on my 2007 yukon denali. Changed oil pan gasket still leaking. It's not rear seal. That dry as a bone in there. It's on both sides at rear of motor. You can see it on the starter bokts on one side. Any ideas?1000005003.jpg

Clean up the area real good and put some dye in the oil.

The rear main seal is always tricky. When mine leaked the area behind the flex plate holes looked pretty dry. It was not until I added the dye, that I was able to see with black light, right at the right spot under the crank pulley (6 o'clock) I could see the drip.

Ditto on addition RTV on the oil pan gasket corners.

The oil cooler lines or block-off plate is another good place to check.

It's probably the rear housing plate gasket that holds the RMS. It'll leak higher up and drain down. Lived with mine for 40k, then pulled the trans and replaced the cover. The seal was dry, the cover gasket gets stiff and compressed.
Pretty much what I think too. Thank you

Check the valley plate bolts for tightness too - at least the ones you can reach. We've seen that gasket take a set too, and leak because the bolts no longer have anything to press against.

Is this on all engine versions? I have a 5.3. I have had a mystery oil leak for a long time. Mosly just irritating since I cant find it. I did have valve covers leaking a bit which was some of it and the block off plate too.

I recently had the intake manifold off on our 07 6.2 Denali w/197k miles and all valley cover bolts were tight.
