2008 tahoe 5.3l in need of desperate help

What cam did he use for the dod delete? They will misfire if he put a dod cam back in with a dod delete.

Typically pcm tuning includes bypassing the CASE relearn so it need never be done again going forward.
That's likely what the tuner meant.

IF that was part of the tuning. We don't really know the tuning details.

since we don't have details, I'm guessing by "tune" he means just license, change the drop down box from enabled to disabled. I can't imagine he's actually trying tune a stock rebuilt daily for a buddy that hasn't run right since he got it. but maybe?


I've never heard of bypassing the case learn? how does one even do that in hpt?

I don't know what tune he used other than it was what the ecu needed to stop reading the dod/afm for the engine. He installed a dod delete kit that required a tune for the ecu.

I’ve almost had my Indi tech push my car out into the street and light it up. After two days of building up a tiny 1.9L, overbored, flow matched, ported, polished & supercharged 250hp screamer that would only crank.

The distributor had a bad hall sensor that took 6 hours to diagnose. Good job throwing the issue on the forum to get a team effort on it.

My wife has a 08 tahoe 5.3l, I put this engine a little over a year ago. She had an oil change done and the guys got pissed cause she refused to spend $190 on an oil flush and only put 2.5qts in and not the 6qts she needed. So needless to say the freaking blew the lifters to hell and back. I didn't have time to do the engine work so a very good friend of mine is doing it. He tore it down cleaned and checked everything. Put all new parts in it and finally was able to start it tonight and now it is suffering from a cylinder 1 and 2 misfire. He's been at it for 8 hours and can not figure out what's causing the misfire. Can anyone please help me. I had to drop my rental off so now we are down to 1 vehicle and that just won't work. Please someone help me out.
Have you put a rabid mad dog attorney on the A**holes shop? Did he/you have the block tested for cracks? It needs to be stripped then they use heat, pressure and look into the metal.

Checked the crank and bearings all looked good still. Only thing that went wrong is it chewed 2 lifters to hell and back and scored a few cam lobes. Heads checked good, crank checked good.

The cam came in a dod delete kit.


I don't know if your year even had it, but vvt is usually removed with a delete kit. maybe check that was turned off in the ecm too, if you're truck came with it?
