Never saw a thread on this so thought i'd post one about it. I think Zach and one other person on this forum (can't remember who) has had this done and the minute I saw it i've been wanting it. I got it off eBay for 150+15 ship on eBay. It was taken off a brand new esky that was dark blue. There are two initial screws you take out, and then you unplug one pin connector, lift up the tailgate window, unscrew 3 more (star shaped) screws and voila, the housing/led is out! Thought i'd share this incase anyone else with a tahoe/yukon wanted to do this quick and easy mod! Here's a before and after pic and the actual pic of the original esky light I got.

Looks sick Felix.
The only problem I have with this mod is to acheive the look I want I would have to get the Esky spoiler, then buy the Putco Esky third brake light (the whole light housing lights up not just the middle) and get it blackedout professionally, then install.
All that work equals too may $$$$$ and makes it not worth it.

Yea I really wish it did light up all the way across. Does the putco one come with a housing or is it just the LED light? Also when I was looking at those, I could only find the clear or ion chrome finish... I don't think they make a red stock-looking one... but yea, since yours is black it would look better blacked out so that's not really a deal breaker for you. The putco led is 325 + 165 for 490 before getting it blacked out professionally is a LOT for a simple install. I paid 40 to paint so I spent 205 for this mod.. well worth it I think!

Yeah it comes in ugly clear and ion finish so that's why it ould have to be darkened.
If I could do the mod for $200 like you I would do it and just say **** the Putco light and keep the stock one.
