if it was like new it would have been washed and polished up and presented it to you that way, all the pictures in the ad are dirty, you can even see the dusty interior in the ad. The pictures conveninetly are cut off where the dash is cracked, and cut off where the seat wear is. Not sure why people do that, cause what do they expect to happen when you see it in person? Dealers doing it irks me too, when i looked at used 2015+ i knew exactly what was going to happen when the ads never showed the side bolster on the driver seat.

Hopefully you can get the price you want, but like others say, you wont find a perfect NNBS in 2020. Plastic interior panels just dont hold up that long. On the bright side though my 08 rattles like crap in the winter, but tightens up in the warmer months.

If he hasn't reached out to me by noon tomorrow I will get in touch with him and see if he will take $9k for it. I also saw and was surprised as to how dirty it was on the inside. Seemed like all the crevices and corners had dirt packed in them. Some would require disassembly to really get it clean. If he will not take $9k for it I will pass and just move on. I like my 2002 Tahoe but really don't like the color. I also heard back from a guy with a 2001 Z71 Tahoe that is silver. I thought we were talking about it about 5 days ago but then he fell off the radar. He had a problem with his business and got tied up dealing with it. I am going to look at it on Sunday at his restaurant and bar. Sounds like I will get a free beer or two during negotiations. The Z71 was his girlfriends but she moved back to Hawaii. He is about 45 miles away so I am now looking for a friend to go with me in case I do buy it.

People suck and this guy is trying to be the salesman that he is not. Did he stretch the truth? Obviously. Disregard the stretched truths and all that. It's typical of a regular Joe trying to be a salesman. Sounds like he was putting on the only salesman song and dance that he knows, and didn't realize how much it was working against him. Don't wanna hear their BS? Don't ask 'em any questions. I get wanting to deal only with ethical, stand-up people. But if you hold out for some perfect trifecta of factors to combine before you consider buying, you're never gonna get another vehicle. Don't let him or any other seller be a factor in you not getting what you want. You are giving them that power- don't do that.

Also something else to consider, most people are not like people on this forum. Most people really don't even pay attention to stuff and are oblivious. They run the shopping cart down the side and don't even stop to look if they hurt anything (they don't care). They run the vehicle through the gas station car wash and whatever it doesn't get off stays forever (that's where dirt lines build up around emblems and side moldings) and the free vacuum they can knock out before the timer runs out is all that gets vacuumed but that usually takes too long and they have to get out so just skip that. I see posts on Facebook all the time of people complaining their car is disgusting because of the kids and their spouse's car is immaculate but yet they don't even consider the time they spent writing up that sob story they could have walked outside and vacuumed the damn car. I walk through a parking lot and see a car that looks like the paint was rolled on in the Home Depot parking lot and I make a comment on it and my wife looks at the same car and doesn't even notice it. So my advice is the same, ignore what the seller says and look at the car for what it is and decide if its the right one. I still think the stuff you mentioned is small potatoes and you're going to find that 95% you look at will be in that condition. The 5% aren't for sale.

What he asks for and what I am willing to pay are two completely different things. No way would I pay $5700 for that 2001 Z71. It will get the 45 minute to 1 hour once over when I get there. I have shop coveralls that I take with me. I crawl under and inspect as well as look at everything above ground. I have a very strong flashlight as well. Good road test as well. One of the things I do, that the owner always seems confused about, is have the owner sit in the idling vehicle and I crawl under the front end and have them move the steering wheel from 3 to 9 while I watch control arms, ball joints, idler and pitman, tie rods and links, steering gear and mount, power steering pump and lines.....just everything I can see as they are loaded back and forth. The Z71 is one year older than my 2002 and has 9k more miles on it. Just like the 2008, if I want it I am still walking away if the seller wants too much. I look for ant and all leaks and thankfully there is a hiway close by so I can do driving at speed and also in parking lots at slower speeds and jouncing over speed bumps. It is my process that I go thru. I hope the inside and outside look as good as the pics.

Even at KBB fair condition and 169k miles it says is worth $2600 at the lowest price. But it also depends on what I find as well. If is in better than fair condition......we shall see. I have had my 2002 going on 3 years now. I have always disliked the color but it always ran great and all drivetrain worked as expected. I may not be able to give up the barn doors though. I really like them instead of the rear hatch but again, we shall see.

As you can see he has now dropped the price of the 2008 Tahoe to $10,500 from $11,500. I still think he will come down even more. I think that he still could come to me at $9k if I offered it but I am going to wait and see what happens with the 2001 Z71 on Sunday. I just keep reading threads on the AFM and how everyone, well a lot of people anyway, hate it and the problems related to it and the expense for repair or even disabling it with a whole new set of parts. I am taking that into consideration with my lower dollar offer.

If he was so confident he had it priced right why would he come down $1000 already? As always, I am prepared to walk away with any car deal. There is always others in the stream, like the fishes.

kbb is in car sales business they over inflate values an item is only as worth as someone is willing to pay for it and a 20 year suv is worth $1500 due to gas prices and the unstable market of fuel prices at the moment

if gas was 1.85$ a gallon then yeah worth maybe $3500-4500

4x4 yeah? up north more would add a premium of 3k south minus -1k

unless it's something super collectible but a Z71 tahoe is not a collectible.. pretty much any car made after 1989 is not collectible.

there is so many SUVs on the market it's worthless it's called oversaturation...

I do agree with your assessment of collectible or not. One of the things I see in the ads are Condition:Excellent. Brand new is excellent. 2001 with less than 50k miles may be excellent. It would have to be showroom quality for excellent and collectible. If it has no dents/scratches/tears in the upholstery still does not make it excellent.

I did have a talk with the Z71 owner last night. Since it is his girlfriend's Z71, she moved to Hawaii and I think he will follow soon, he told me she will go no lower than $5k for it. I told him that just with pics before I look at it, the most I could see me paying is $3500 to $3750. He said she would never go for that. We said our goodbye's and all is good. Not going 100 miles round trip tomorrow to look at it. A 4x4 does go for more here because of the area and the passes in and out of here in the fall and winter. Plus, we have no rust on vehicles and that helps the resale price as well.

I just texted the 2008 Tahoe owner. He is at $10,500. I sent the text saying that if he allowed $500 for the paint buffing that he said he would do when I saw him, and then he is at $10k. From there allow $300 for the seat repair, and the rest of the $700 for steering wheel, dash buttons, trans lines and the associated labor, we are at the $9000 I am willing to offer. waiting to hear back. I also asked for a road test tomorrow or Monday on my days off. The wait is on.

Before I could post he came back in the text at $10k. I said no. I said the immediate concern, right off the bat, is the drivers window regulator that I think needs to be replaced and that is an immediate repair and money out of my pocket.

He just texted no. He is now firm at $10k. He said he was firm at $11,500 when I saw him. He said the noise is the glass wipe. I said I have heard that noise before and it is a motor/regulator and is an immediate expense to me.

I really think he will drop to $9k today. He does not want to take too long with this. He is buying a new pickup truck and he said he found one within 100 miles of here and there is supposedly only 1 in the entire state. Something special I guess.
