awhile back my oil pressure gauge would stay at 0 and my dash would read "oil pressure low stop engine" then 5 seconds later the gauge would go back up to normal. it did this about 5 times and I didn't think much of it because if I remember the cluster had a recall. anyways it did it this last time and never went back to normal. we took it apart today (8-7-16) and the oil pump is practically brand new. any info on what else it could be would be helpful thanks!

First pull out the sending unit on the back of intaje manifold. It's a bit of a ***** but there is YouTube videos on it.

Then pull out the tiny little filter under it, replace it, $4 at auto parts store. If you can, check with manual gauge, if not, I'd replace the sending unit (I'm battling oil pressure issues, know all about this unit and filter, had mine off twice now). Also a lot of people say you need a specific socket, a normal 1 1/16" deep well got it out just fine.

From there, we move on to the o ring in the pickup tube on the pump... ask me how I know... hours of research... ugh..m

could that be why it wasn't getting any oil at all? it was making a quick somewhat loud tapping noise. I don't wanna have to pay to get my engine taken apart for the cam bearings which I've been reading it may be the problem due to that damn e85 deal....one guy said by 2011 that problem was gone

Yeah, it could be, and its really easy to rule it out. Super common problem fro what ive read (and I've read a looot)

From there check the o ring on the pickup tube going bottom of oil pump. I just dropped my oil pan to check this and had a cut completely through it. Also super brittle (as in crumbled in my hand) and flattened.
