Solder it x3!

I had mine done by my buddy that is an audio installer. He did it like in 30 seconds. Don't listen to the dealer or any other glass place. But be careful because if the glass gets too hot it will shatter/brake. I can't remember if my friend used a solder gun or solder torch or both.

I have this issue everytime winter comes around. Don't even have to use the glass and the fall off. My window has been replaced twice now and soldered at least 4 times. The wire has been dangling for a year now and GM won't do a thing about it. It happen since the first year I owned it new. Never had a problem like this before. Very dissapointed in GM. It's obviously a design issue and they should engineer a permanent fix.

I had my defrost wire come off of my rear passenger side window. luckily not the hatch window. And it really pissed me off that I paid so much for an Escalade and that something as simple as defrost wires they can't get right. So i had my tint shop peel off the lines, unhook it, and tint it so dark i can't see in the trunk.... No need to defrost that window anyway, since i can't turn around and see it over the passanger rear seat...

Mine's been repaired by my dealer twice. They have a guy that comes in one day a week in the winter to just fix Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban tabs that fall off.

The second time they did mine the service manager uncoiled the coiled wire several turns before plugging back on. Makes the cord longer and puts less tension on the glass especially in the cold weather. Havent had a problem since. Might be something for everyone to try before winter, just unplug the wire from the glass, uncoil it two or three turns and plug it back in.

I think I will put "extensions" on my cords, the local car wash here opens the glass to clean in there.

does opening the glass strain the wire & cause the break, or do they just break even if glass is never opened?

Happened to mine. Chenged the glass. Look carefullly on the glass side. If you can see metal then you cab solder. If you see glass, you might be SOL. I was actually going to try to glue it bacl. But I was not able to find any conductive epoxy. If you solder you do take the chance of shattering the glass. If you are going to change the glass any ways then solder first. If it works then great, if not then change the glass. I would say it is a poor design but that is GM. Anyways Good Luck.

Mine is suffering from the same problem. I called a nearby dealer and they said the TSB is no longer available on my vehicle since it's so far out of warranty, but they are fixing it for $70 + tax. Not bad considering the repair kit alone is $40ish
