ok, so derrrr there is (2) orange/white wires on the white connector, the one on the corner pin is negative, the one on the center pin is positive (as it is supplied from the door switch) I wanted to be sure to get it right so it wouldn't be shorting out if the OEM fob is used
running out of daylight today, I'll have to pull both the door panels to run wire sometime this weekend

Nice find. I want to track down the turn signal in the mirror, I guess I could do the same trick.

I think the turn signal wire is on the other connector because when I was testing I had the white connector off and the turn signal led was still lighting up

Thanks for the hint. The only thing I'm concerned about is putting the wrong voltage on the auto dim wire... I did that once on a rear view mirror and ruined it.

lol, ya I did the same thing years ago I bought the dim/signal glass to put on my 00 nbs and was going to add the autodim found out in about 1 second that autodim doesnt take 12v.
I didn't even think about that when I was screwing around with this the other day with a 9v battery

Live and learn. I bought the digital service manual, so I've been trying to decipher it to see if it has a schematic for that for switch.

Alternatively, I have a power fold I pulled at the junkyard with cracked glass I don't mind messing up.

it would be nice if someone invented a plug in serial bus module so you could just add/delete whatever you wanted, I have a feeling it's going to be a thing in the future with the way things are going with big brother taking over the vehicles, it's already starting with electric steering, electric brake control, etc, onstar is bad enough, soon enough the police will just be able to pull your vehicle over by remote control or you'll just get a ticket via email after some kind of alarm goes off when you passed a road sensor too fast, i'm sure they will be pretty creative with it.

making progress, got the wires hooked up and all dialed in behind the door panels, figured out the easiest way to take off the door panels is to grab it with your fingers just below the mirror closest to the door hinges and pull out and work your way down and around back up to the door lock then it comes right off without having to use any pry tools, now I just need to tie into the dome light wire at the drivers kick panel/box. hardest part was feeding the wire thru the rubber boot in the door hinge area I just pushed a big long zip thru it with the wire attached to the clip end, I used speaker wire since it matched the same thickness of the mirror harness
