Last but not least, a winter night driving pic. 500% better than the OEM brown glow halogens.

Ordered a set-up that I pieced together myself;

-Denso slim AMP converted ballasts / potted for weatherproofing - TRS
-HD H11 relay harness - TRS
-HD capacitor link - TRS
-9006 extension cables - TRS
-Phillips 85211 4300k re-based to H11 - xenondepot

I'll try to do a full write-up with pics when installation is underway. Denso ballasts come as OEM equipment in Lexus vehicles. Philips 85211 4300k bulbs come as OEM equipment in Toyota and Lexus. My purpose of this kit is to make it as OEM as possible, without spending over $3,000.00.

What was your final price tag on this setup?

Thanks!

I just picked up a SLE, and the halogens are terrible. I'm coming from a BMW X5 with bi-xenon, and now I can barely see at night.

You've obviously put a lot of thought into this, so I'm going to follow your plan. And your lights look great!

Couple of questions:

1) how long have you had them running now? I saw from some others that after a few months, these aftermarket HID kits experience some issues. Any issues on yours?
2) I assume you got the potted ballast bc you're in Alaska and the elements are tougher. Being in GA, I'm not sure that applies to me, but its definitely wet down here. Do you know anything I don't about the potted version? Would you make a rec?
3) The Densco Slim AMP shows a 9006 adapter, but you said you're running H11 bulb. How does that work? Do you run both the high beams (9006) and the low beams (h11) off the ballast and that is what the H11 relay harness is for? What 9006 HID bulb did you go with?

Thanks so much for any guidance you can provide.

Charlie.

Charlie,

Yes I did do a lot of research on this subject. Having just bought this rig for my wife to tote our 4 year old and 2 year old boys around in, I was very disappointed in the light output of the low beams. However, at the same time, I was very skeptical of modifying a brand new rig.

So to answer your questions;

1. I've had these installed since January 17th. I've had no issues at all.
2. I went with the potted ballasts, because I decided to eliminate all chances of failure that I possibly could. Yes, conditions in Alaskan spring and winter weather are not the greatest for keeping things clean and dry. Again, I was going to durability and OEM reliability.
3. There are two styles of connections on the Denso AMP converted ballasts. There are the AMP style connections and the 9006 style connection. I believe the AMP's are outputs and the 9006 is an input. The 9006 connection style is a well known and "generic / universal" style connector. Any H11 HID bulb, from my understanding and research, will come with the AMP outputs and 9006 input connectors already wired for the HID bulb. A connector style isn't exactly linear or related to what style of bulb is in use. For example, an H11 bulb has an H11 BASE with a 9006 CONNECTION / the H11 denotes the locking feature and interface the bulb has with the housing. That's how I understand it, and it works that way for me.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Very nice write-up, Prormk! Wow, what a difference compared to OEM. As a result of your post, Im seriously considering doing this to my truck!

In your last picture post, in the snow, those are the low-beams?
