2018 5.3 Issues Dealer Cannot Solve

I’m hoping someone has a suggestion for this issue.
Our 2018 Yukon started running poorly around 5,000 miles. It feels like it’s bogging down unless you’re very light with the throttle. There have been no error codes and our dealer has had it for almost 3 weeks now. Initially they said they had to call GM to troubleshoot because they have no idea if there’s no codes. They came back saying it was running rich and replaced the MAP sensor. That didn’t fix it and after a few days they told me it was running lean. Now they are saying they can not replicate the issue.
To make matters worse, we just moved across the country and I’m concerned about picking it up and driving 800 miles.

Have them give you a loaner and drive that the 800 miles. When they figure out the problem, let them come and get it.


Prob won't work but it sounds great.

These aren't mystery motors, the current engine has been around since 2013 and the dealership has the tools to diagnose and run a datalog to examine after a test drive. Take it to another dealer or walk around back and speak with the mechanics yourself. Find the guy with the biggest tool box and ask him to fix it.

Thanks for your feedback, but I was looking for more technical assistance from anyone else that may have experienced a similar issue.

something like that where even the dealer is perplexed is probably going to take more of a hands on approach, they may just have to toss a grenade at it so to say and just start replacing stuff, I would start with cleaning the intake system and fuel system, which you shouldn't have to do after only 5k miles but ya never know.

Are you sure it’s engine and not transmission? Could even be traction control being errant. I would follow above suggestion and find different dealer. 3 weeks is wayyyy toooo looonnnngggggg.

How the wholly hell does a dealer say that they can’t fix it under warranty when they have the support of the factory tech line and have started a list of diagnostic tests that can only be so long.

Easy fix here. Make an appointment with the dealer principal (owner). Bring in another person with you but don’t tell them you’re doing that. Ask the principal what’s going on and be very nice.

If the dealership asks who you brought in say it’s just a friend. Tell your friend not to talk, just listen. Most of all ask the principal what the GM tech line personnel told them to do and ask them how reach out to that individual.

Stay quiet, you should hear the principals stomach rumble during the silence. Either call the name and number they provide or let them know it’s a misunderstanding and you’ll call out to get the info today. Be very nice, don’t talk until you hear another rumble and politely leave and wait one day before you call GM.

Magic will happen.
