After saving up and waiting on a decent deal for a 2018 Yukon Denali I will be taking ownership in a couple days. I don't think the Transmission fluid has ever been changed based on the CARFAX service history, so I am going to do it pretty quick. Probably by myself if its just a simple pan drop and refill. Any preference on fluid out there or just the recommended AC Delco Dexron VI?

I'd follow whatever the manual says. I don't know if GM went back to dextron 6 on the 10 speed, or if it's there new stuff they use in the 8 speed. Also, no dipstick, so you'll have to make sure you can fill and check it properly.

The recommended GM Dextron ULV fluid is pretty cheap. people on youtube have used Amsoil and the Mobil 1 HP LV as well in 10L80 and 10L90

I would take it to the dealer and tell them to use ULV fluid. They also change the gasket, clean the magnet and change the filter.

If you can do it yourself, I would. When I had mine serviced at 35k, the dealer charged me $680 to change the filter and all new fluid. As others have mentioned, it take the ULV fluid. Next service, I'll be doing it myself. There were no good "how to" videos when I had it done the first time....
