How about for lane departure warning? Are you able to force an alert by crossing lane markings without signaling?

I am. But I think there must be an algorithm in the software that controls it because it depends on travel speed and how forcefully I turn into another lane when not signaling. if the speed is highway speed, the alert is definitely there and the tug to keep me in the lane is strong. It’s actually helped me be more careful by always signaling lane changes, something I used to do 80% of the time but now it’s 100%. It’s a good system.

The other day I went on the highway to give it a test for about a half hour. I was able to get three "take steering" alerts by removing my hands from the steering wheel. However, I was only able to get one actual lane departure warning when merging. This resulted in the lane keep assist icon flashing on the dash.

I have tried to unintentionally drift into another lane without any input from my hands and generally, the electric steering will attempt to move you back over, but if you don't input and cross over the opposite lane marking, the green/amber lane keep assist icon will just turn off.

In my tests I only got it to alert me once even though I drove the exact same route back and forth twice. But like I said it doesn't matter, left or right, I feel as though the electronic steering's lane keep assist actually works pretty well and will nudge the steering in the appropriate direction when it detects you getting close to the left or right lane marking.

I suppose it's working fine, as is the crash avoidance icon which will always accurately show green even when the vehicle in front is far, and it will turn amber if you get too close. Both systems rely on the same camera.

Since my 2019 Yukon has been in the shop again (I have my own thread for that) I have been in a 2020 GMC Terrain courtesy vehicle that has lane keep assist. It acts very similarly to my GMC Yukon so I would have to say that everything I described in regards to the Yukon's lane keep assist is normal. I haven't been able to get a peep out of the lane departure warning around town at least, but generally, if a lane is crossed without signaling, the system generally just turns off.

The only difference is that the 2020 GMC Terrain's lane keep icon is always illuminated "white" and then either turns green or amber depending on the status, where as in the Yukon, there is no "white" icon, but rather's it's totally off, green, or amber.
