2018 Steering Wheel Leather Wrinkle (Photo)

Guess the contrarian missed the words Ford and Honda.

A holster ain't a steering wheel. If your holsters are like mine they are at least 5-6 ounces and probably 7-8 or more and usually of harness leather; not 2-3 ounces of very supple leather.

I think it looks great and if someone pines for smooth, they should switch to vinyl.

my only disagreement with the 'my 1970s/1980s cars had wrinkles' argument is that we are manufacturing vehicles in 2017. Manufacturing technology has changed exponentially in 40 years and customer expectations should change and reflect that as well. OP has every right to tell dealership he won't accept the condition of the steering wheel.

i personally think it is silly that anyone would compare a 1980 vehicle to what we have presently. power windows blew yalls minds back then lol.

Yep. Agreed. Was just at the dealer and snapped a pic of another Denali with a leather wheel. Guess what? Smooth as a baby’s butt and virtually no wrinkles.

Leather hasn't changed in 6,000 years and neither have the best tanning methods.

You folks are thinking of this as a defect and not as a characteristic of leather and sewn leather. I was wondering if anyone here besides myself works with leather but none as yet have chimed in.

I think of them smooth wheels as not stitched tight enough and will someday come loose with age and then tear when the adhesive underneath fails, if there is any.

So to be clear. The SMOOTH wheels (read: almost all of the wheels out there in these vehicles) are stitched too tightly/incorrectly and the WRINKLED wheel shown by the OP is the 1% that was actually done correctly?

Well there you go OP, you won the lottery and the rest of us with smooth wheels are the ones that got the defective wheels!

Maybe, they're just different. I like my wrinkled ones, y'all like your smooth ones. Was it Burger King that said, "Have It Your Way"?

The pinhole in a different pic IS a problem.

That said, for the money paid, the OP should get it squared away, IF they so desire.


Now, that said, there are bigger fish to fry with these rigs than wrinkles.
