Our 2022 Yukon was order February 7 and as of today April 12, we still do not have an order number, our dealer has supposedly ordered it but says they have not received an order number. Anyone have an idea when we should get an order number?

That means they didn't submit your order. What trim/features did you order?
Just the premium and luxury package and we ordered the slt and the alternative 20 inch wheels and also the power folding 2nd row bucket seats.

There's no reason they can't provide you an order number. If they didn't submit your order (there could be all sorts of reasons why they didn't) they won't have one. If they say they did and they won't give you an order number then it's time to find a new dealership.

Alright thank you, we have a small dealer near us and that's where we order from and they said that they can barely get anything so we are just waiting it out. Thanks again!

yep - the bares bones of the process is...

order submitted - order # immediately available at this time

order then has to be accepted by GM - a lot goes into this step, but what you need to know is that the dealer needs to have an allocation for what you are ordering, so if they don't have the allocation, then your order won't be accepted.

It's possible that since they are a smaller dealer they don't worry about the first step until they have an allocation---as in they won't enter/submit the order until they know it'll move forward and be accepted by GM

Understood not wanting to rock the boat with the local guy, but it's possible it may be 4 months or 14 months before it moves forward

Local dealer to me said he normally gets less than 10 Tahoes a year and he has 20 people on his waiting list

When they "place" your order they have access to your build sheet in what's called the "GM Order Workbench".

This will have your order # (it is 6 digits and all letters). It will also list your event code description.

Regardless if they officially submitted your order to GM, you should still have an order number in the GM Order Workbench.

If you do not have this - then they never placed your order.

At this point, ask to speak to the ordering manager. Tell them you know this exists and you simply want an update. If they refuse, I'd start exploring another dealer.

This is the part that makes no sense to me. They do not have to actually submit your order to place it in their system. But in terms of making sure they have your order correctly inputted, you think they would input it rather quickly because if they wait and cannot locate whatever it is they used to take your order, then they'll look like morons.

Suppose they did order it, any idea what the delivery times are right now?

6 months? 9 months? 1 year? There’s no consistent timeline that you can work with. It all depends on a number of factors not limited to constraints on your order, allocations available to your dealer and part shortages.
