Since BP bought Castrol, their so-called synthetic motor oils have fallen in quality considerably; it's no longer worth the premium that most stores still charge for it vs better synthetic oil brands such as Valvoline, Pennzoil, Mobil 1, or Quaker State. The Oil Life Monitor only tracks engine RpMs accumulated between resets - kinda like a trip-ometer.
It will call for the next oil change regardless of air quality, ambient temps, motor oil quality, air filter quality, how soon after startup you drive, how soon after startup you drive like it's a race to get there, or whether you Tow / Haul light or heavy or not.
To be clear: the Oil Life Monitor is ever so slightly more nuanced than 'every three months or 3000 miles'.
Can't hurt to change oil and filter before it hits 0%.
