The issue is the allocation and GM is tricky with that. It took about 4.5 months from time of order to getting it on the lot at the dealer for the Diesel - I'm just outside WDC. I ordered from a dealer in TX and it took about 2 months total as they got the allocation much faster. There are a lot of factors - sometimes they build the Diesels in bunches and only give certain allocations based on past sales.

Did you drive it from TX back to WDC or have it transported? What about the (temporary) registration? And where did you pay the sales tax?
If I order from a dealer in TX and want to drive it to CA, will TX collect the tax and issue a transit registration?

The dealer outside WDC ended up getting it in a few days earlier than the TX dealer did. I know the TX dealer can ship or you can pick up. You pay taxes based on where the vehicle is registered. My TX dealer would handle all of it remotely though and super easy to work with.
