No matter how you coat it, automatic car washes WILL ruin your finish, period. You may not see it the 1st day or week or even year. But by the time you discover it, the damage will be done and it will be all over the vehicle. I realize some people may not have a choice, but I made arrangements with a local detailer to hand wash my vehicle every 2 weeks at a fair fee. This big monster is hard to wash right and will wear you out, but when done right, there is nothing sharper....
I agree!!!! Mine has never been in a car wash. I power wash it, foam cannon it and go over it with a soft brush. Then out comes the leaf blower to dry it. I have been using a detail wax after every wash but might switch over to Griots Garage 3 in 1 ceramic wax. I just did my Honda Pilot with the 3 in 1 this weekend. Depending on how it holds up I will do the Tahoe. The Youtube durability tests show it as one of the most durable ceramic coatings out there. Super easy on and off and a bottle is 20 bucks. Hell even if it lasts a few months I'll be happy. Just need the coating on there to make it a piece of cake to dry. No power car washes or hand drys for my Tahoe or Corvette :) LOL

Sorry folks, I didn't get alerts for this post.

I had it done and it looked outstanding. Ran me $1200.

They used UK Quartz and did a one step paint correction. You'd be surprised at the amount of correction simply from the dealer prepping it. It could have used an additional step in my opinion. There were still light marks; although I looked really hard.

The shop I went to considered it a daily driver based on the types of very high end vehicles that go there. My expectations were higher than what they thought for a daily driver. I know for a fact if I spent more, I wouldn't have had anything to complain about other than a lighter wallet.

Long story short, it snowed a few days after the coating and they salted the crap out of the roads. Winter is hanging on in NY. I have to wash it before I can take photos.

Thank you all for the follow up.
I hear ya on the dealer prep. When ours arrived at the dealership we drove it home dirty. I told my salesman to make sure no one washes it or runs it through a car wash. I am the only one who washes my vehicles and they never get towel dried. power wash, foam cannon, soft brushing, power rinse and leaf blower dry. Not one swirl mark in 8 months. Just gotta keep it waxed for an easy blow dry :)

I wouldn’t use a brush but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a leaf blower. It blows air just like all those expensive reversible vacuum cleaners.

Frankly if you’re using a brush nothing else matters. It’s going to look like a cobwebbed mess under a paint light. Maybe there is a microfiber brush available but I’ve never seen one.

If the blower is electric then MAYBE (gas will blow exhaust which has oil in it) but it’s still unfiltered. Car blowers are made for that express purpose.

When I say brush don't think of your typical brush. This thing is super soft and won't scratch the paint. I even use it on my vette. No scratch or swirl marks to date :) It is softer than my micro fiber wash mit :)

The brush is softer than my micro fiber mit and yes the blower is electric :) Also the brush only touches the vehicle after a power wash and thick foaming from my foam cannon.

All that matters is that you like the process and tools you’re using.
