285/70/r17 fit on 2001 LT Tahoe?

Im getting a set of 17x9 wheels and some toyo MT's to wrap them in. The guy at the tire store said on the phone that 265/70/r17 would fit safer with no rubbing. The issue is I don't want to put skinnier tires on wider wheels. (275/70/r20) especially since my current AT's are wider. I really don't want to go any skinnier than 275, and the MT's come in 265 and 285, 295 etc. Has anyone run a 285/70/r17 tire on a stock Hoe? hows the rubbing? Also, would some small wheel spacers work help in the front?

I believe the ones I was looking at were classified as Medium offset. I looked on the manufactures webpage and they offer 3 options of that wheel with my bolt pattern. +0, +18, +30, so I'm guessing medium means +18 in offset.

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking. I'd like to not have to crank the keys a lot if I can so I can preserve my ride and front suspension travel. Trimming would be a good option, except I'm not sure what I would be trimming and how much of it I'd need to do

Shouldn't be much. I think my tires are 32x10.5 so your a little taller and a little wider. I have no rubbing and actually have some room to go bigger.

Nice. Thanks for the help. I think I'm gonna tell the guys at the shop to tork the keys a little and I'll try to do some trimming before hand

I'm running 285 coopers on 16s. only rubbing is when reversing sharply. other than that no problems.

I have 285/70/17's and they don't rub at all. I leveled it with keys after getting the tires on. The stock Z71 snowflake wheels are 7.5 wide with a +31mm offset. So you should be ok with the 18mm but I'd do the 30's. Don't go cutting anything until after you get them on and check if they will actually rub. My buddy has 305/50/20's with a 42mm offset. the only thing they rub is the back of the Z71 lower valance and only a tad when he is ******* the brakes while turning into a parking spot.
