This may sound dumb, but is there really a difference between 2wd and 4wd when it comes to a cat back?

I found an edelbrock cat back for $150 brand new but it says its for a 2wd. I figure it will fit my 4wd hoe, but not sure if I want to make the gamble.

The part number has changed and the old number is no longer listed on edelbrocks website.

I was looking for a magnaflow muffler to weld in, but combine the muffler and a decent tip and I could just get the full cat back and simplify my install.

wouldnt think so, 2wd is rear wheel drive so theres going to be the axle to go over either way. not sure if the exhaust flange is set in a slightly different location on 2wd trucks though. as long as its a single in/ single out and basically straight with the exception of the "hump" in the pipe for the axle clearance i would think you should be fine.
ask for a pic and see how its set up

Is there a possibility the 4WD exhaust has bends to clear the transfer case as opposed to the 2WD exhaust does not?

As for Magnaflow, I have Magnaflow Cats and a Single in Dual Out Magnaflow Muffler and it sounds great. Not a lot of interior drone and has a nice deep tone :Handshake:

Possible i suppose, not really likely if your only doing a cat back and not true duals from the headers. The stock exhaust flange after the cat looks to be atleast 10" to the right (towards the pass. side) of the trans until the drive shaft, which would also be on the 2wd. Single in/ single out cat back should only really have bends to accomidate the crossember and torsion bar crossmember and the rear axle. Different manufacturers though could have different patterns tho i guess so anythings possible
