If you aren't getting crazy with decking the block and angle milling the heads stock pushrod length will be fine. You can get the thicker walled pieces but they aren't needed.

A good roller rocker will free up some horsepower, just have to be sure they will work in your app.

I hope you plan to do some port matching on the heads, yes the stock vortec heads are great out of the box but the exhaust side could use some work. I would also port match the intake manifold and the intake side of the head. You have to remember that most of the hp is made with the heads. If you can't get the air in and out efficiently why bother with building a 383?

Apologies, I am building a stock replacement 5.7 not a stroker. I only piggybacked onto this thread to ask some valve train questions.
