all should be pressed somehow. some may not need as much pressure as others tho. and yes the outer nay be looser but the mounting of the yoke and nut presses it in place to get it on all the way. sorry if i confused you. it just involves various gear press and puller tools to do it correctly. i know you might be nearly done but if you need the service manual stuff on it let me know.

The outer pinion bearing still needed to be driven on with the pinion nut but it was too tight originally to thread the nut on. Do you think I'll get into trouble later down the line? I thought I would chance it because it seems like so many others do it that way.

hard to tell since i am not there in person but you may have opened yourself to possible bearing failure and corrosion issues in the future. just keep a close eye and ear on it for now. might want to inspect the magnet every few months for the first year.

uh when you mentioned the outer bearing on the pinion, that also used a tool to put it on straight so as to drive it with a hammer to get the nut on. a lot of tools are used on the axle. i attached some files for you to have. a little late tho since you had already started it.

dam the first couple rear end rebuilds i did id gp through at least 2 crush bearings or sleaves

I cranked on the pinion nut with a breaker bar slowly and constantly checked with the inch pound wrench. I got really lucky I guess.... But we will see how it holds up.

I have ordered my new gears for my 1999 Tahoe. These manuals should work for mine as well right ? I notice yours is a 1995.
