There's a good shop over in Lewisville. I can't remember the name of the place for the life of me. I moved back to Florida a few years back so it's been a while.

Thanks man, but here's the thing, so I was on the freeway last night and I was hitting about 2400rpm @65 mph. Usually I'm at about 2000rpm @ 70mph. Needless to say something was not right. So this morning I got in her and ran down the freeway for a few miles and everything is back to normal it seems. Fluid is at normal amount and it's still red and still smells normal so I don't know what the deal is

Now it sounds like you torque converter clutch solenoid may be starting to go out?

If you can take a test drive down the road say approx 40. A higher speed with light throttle/engine load. With you your foot steady resting on the accelerator just cruising along, tap your brake pedal, look at your rpm. After you tap the brake, you should notice your RPM jump. Once you left off the brake, a few seconds later your rpm should drop slightly.

This is deactivating/activating your torque converter clutch. Hopefully the TCC solenoid is failing bc all they have to do is drop the tran pan and replace the solenoid.

I'll try that tomorrow on my way to work, was talking to the wife about it so I'm going to save some cash and go ahead and get a good one with a shift kit and better insides built and hope I can get it done before it actually goes out. I just hit 250,000 miles and I'm sure I'm living on borrowed time

I did what you said and it does exactly that! I haven't had any issue with it since this past week. I'm kinda thinking the beer had something to do with it [emoji47]

The stock torque converter only stalls to about 1600 rpm. It would be hard to tell if it unlocked at a cruising rpm of 2000 or more. It sounds to me like you might have had the shifter in 3rd.

I thought about it being in a different gear too, but I remember trying to shift it into 3 and drive but it still did it. Since then it hasn't done it again. So I'm sure it was the beer.
