i know one form a 99 4x4 the bell housing is different than a 97 4x4.... i think the only thing that will work in a 97 is a 97

that is the bell housing and converter i mentioned.

I'm new to this thread but here is what ive learned being a 1997 C1500 Suburban owner and mechanic....you can only use 1995 for 1995, 1996-97 for 1996-97, and only 1998 for 1998.....Also yes the 1999 and newer years will fit but the PCM won't operate those models....confusing yessss makes you wonder why Chevrolet and GM did this after being universal for so long.

My transmission went out in my 98 tahoe today, what other years 4l60e are compatible. Im hearing 98+ are different??? Is this true, i have called multiple trans shops and researched, i cant get a straight anwser.

Just need to know what years i have that are compatible

98 is only compatible with 98
