Is a 6.2L swap with the 6L80e even possible? I thought I had read that it was not maybe due to torque? Also I am remembering reading that it wasn't possible with the 2spd transfer case in the z71.

When compared to the supercharger, it seems like the cost is about even. The magnachargers are upwards of $5-$6k. A crate LS3 or L92 is about that as well.

For what you are looking for as far as gains down low swapping to a 6.2 or 6.0 will not give you the torque you're looking for. The best way to gain torque down low(under 3k) is with a SC roots or twin-screw stay away from centrifical as they make power up top.

Not likely. Everything from MagnaCharger, Whipple or Procharger is around $5-6K. Unless you can get one used.

he was talking about 3k rpms.

and TRUST ME. a super charger is ALMOST always a far far far cheaper option than engine swap when a bolt on is available.

you are talking days of labor, potential ecu issues (it happens) potential random sensor issues, potential fitament issues, etc.

you are also going to not see any value in an engine swap at resale and it will in fact probably DE-value the vehicle (because consumers are idiots), whereas a supercharger may give you a slight premium if on a stock engine (because consumers are idiots).

yes for 5k you can get a crate with an engine on your doorstep, or a box of supercharger parts on your doorstep. 5 hours later you have either a crate engine on your doorstep OR a supercharged 5.3 making 500+hp, that you are test driving/tuning (after showering).

huge difference in cost.

Depending on which Magnacharger kit you went with, you can get new ones for under 5K shipped.

You can buy a 6.2 with brain pretty cheap. look around, you'd be surprised.. That's the way you want to go anyway. Put a nice cam in the 6.2 and it would run neck and neck or beat, the 5.3 with a SC on it. You would have around the same labor costs, it's just a motor swap. Just think... 6.2 then a SC????? gotta see the forest through the trees bro..

My Yukon Denali, tuned, is most definatelky a 1.85-1.9 60' truck... The 5.3 SC is a great combo but to spend all that money, be maxed out (outside of forged engine, H&C and so on, or a stroker) when you can do the 6.2 is a no brainer.. You can sell the 5.3 to get back another $1500-2k.. Can't do that with a bolt on SC..

this is an expensive one. i've seen them locally for $2500..

OK maybe i missed this but what if I find a 6.0 denali do a rebuild or not depending on milage. If i do a rebuild i would put all new bearings in it. My question is. From there what does it take? Do I just use my stock intake, heads, or is it easier to use everything off the old engine including computer? also will it mount to my stock tranny 03 tahoe z71 4x4.. I'm not looking to go to the 6.2 but isnt that just the same block as a 6.0??? So to recap.. I want the 6.0...

Questions:
1.Does the engine mounts line up
2.Is it easier to use my stock intake and/or heads (wich is better for durability and fuel eco)
3. Can I keep it a 4X4 or am i going to AWD?
4. And sorry I think I can find a 6.0 a lot cheaper than 4K I have some connections and should be able to pick one up around 1K max (dealership employee)
