5.3l flex fuel extended crank

When pumping gas, if you try and force more fuel into to gas tank after the gas pump has clicked off the first time, eventually the result will be as you describe. This jacks up the vapor cannister system. Replacing the purge valve fixed the wifes car.

I used to top off but then I had an evap problem on another rig I owned. Now I fill to when it clicks and will round to the nearest dollar.

Me too, I was a "top it off" kind of guy until I found out how bad an idea it is to keep pumping after the initial kick off.
