BLUEFLAME AND TIM Z, THANKS GUYS - I DID WANT TO KEEP MY 5.3 IN, SO THIS INFO HELPS TREMEDOUSLY.

my plans now include a SC, cam, LT's, and a BB tune.
that should get me to where i want to be, but with these kinds of upgrades, do i need to change anything with the tranny?

I've seen plenty of 5.3s push 450-500 with forced induction, just make sure the tune is safe and the engine isn't hurt prior to install (do a compression check).

thanks Max,

i also have plans to put bags on my KON, just a basic set-up-front, back, side 2 side, and pancake.

the horse power is just for the get up and go, but sheesh talk about spending some $$$$

nothing is as cheap as you think - i guess you wouldn't want to get the "blue light special" when doing these kinds of mods.

Cam, converter, longtubes, and a tune will get you plenty of power and save you loot for the bags.

I hear ya on the prices. I have had my hoe for 4 years and just now able to start modding it. 4 kids puts a damper on mods. Daycare, diapers, formula or LT headers and a CIA?

Most defintley youll need to "help" your trans.

1st thing top priority is a shift kit.

Get a Transgo kit, dont waste time money on TCI or B& M.

Shift kit will help with line pressure and holding power of your clutches.

Get billet servos, they will help the holding power also.

This stuff will help your trans last for a little while.

If your running 5-6lbs boost you'll be ok for a while with common sence driving.

But for sure you'll need a complete rebuild.

If its a 4L60E you'll want to get good raybestous clutches, beast sunshell, 5 pinion planetaries, shift kit, and a GOOD converter, Precision industries builds the Best converters period.

Good luck.

I ran my 04 Z71 with 5lbs boost / stock trans and it did ok, as soon as i added an intercooler and jumped to 10 psi i burn my trans.

No laughing here bro, how else do you learn if you dont ask!

a converter is your torque converter. Located btween your transmission and Engine.

Your engine spins the converter which in turn spins /applies power to your trans mission.

The torque converter is a fluid coupling device similar to a clutch in a manual car.

Factory torque converters are not made for high performance.

Upgradeing to a better torque converter will better use the power your motor makes ( putting it to the ground)

A better converter has stronger internal clucthes for more holding power.

For a Tahoe i reccomend a 2800 to 3000 stall speed. This will help keep your vehicle in its powerband thus a better transion of power to the rear wheels which makes you go fast LOL!
