Yes. That list I posted is part of an RPO code list that I use to decipher RPO codes, it's not what you will see in your glovebox. If you open the glovebox, there's THIS label on the inside of the door. It's about 2" x 4" or so. All the codes in the list tell you exactly what your rig has as well as interior and exterior colors. RPO stands for Regular Production Order. I took a picture of mine so I could print it out. As you can see, mine has the LQ4 RPO.

ya so the LQ9 having higher compression is probably why they recommend the 91 octane. The LQ4 in the denali's would be the same motor as in the 2500 series trucks, which makes sense why it would say 87 octane. I just wish my Denali had the 4l80E tranny. But nowadays it "acceptable" to switch. Or maybe I'll identify my Denali as a Z06 Corvette with twin turbos.

93 octane for me. If I am in an area that only offers 91 or 92, then I'll do that.

Not to rekindle an old debate but I wanted to add what I found in my owners manual. This has already been said more or less in this thread but this is right from the horses mouth and just hoping to add some 'official' clarity that can be helpful to some. This is for an LQ9.

Gasoline Octane
Use premium unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 91 or higher for best performance. You may also use middle grade or regular unleaded gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher, but your vehicle's acceleration may be slightly reduced. If the octane is less than 87, you may get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine.

I realize this was mainly for the Escalade and the LQ9 but the owners manual for my 2005 Yukon Denali with the slightly lower compression LQ4 has similar wording for Gasoline Octane

Use regular unleaded gasoline with a posted octane of 87 or higher. If the octane is less than 87, you may get a heavy knocking noise when you drive. If this occurs, use a gasoline rated at 87 octane or higher as soon as possible. Otherwise, you might damage your engine. A little pinging noise when you accelerate or drive uphill is considered normal. This does not indicate a problem exists or that a higher-octane fuel is necessary. If you are using 87 octane or higher-octane fuel and hear heavy knocking, your engine needs service.
