Has anyone had luck with GM and cracked dashboards? I have a 2011, so I didn't expect to see the problem. I know i've read a lot about the issue here, but I thought it affected mostly earlier model years. Yay for me! I actually bought their extended warranty, so I hope they will cover it. I cannot imagine how much it would cost to replace.

About 1 month ago, a severe rattle started in the dashboard. I thought it was from the front panel since there are videos on how to fix it. Then, over this last weekend, I noticed a huge crack that opened on the passenger side from the upper left corner of the airbag cover.

I was really hoping to keep this vehicle a long time, but when they cannot get the simple stuff to last, I'm not confident it will make it.

Any thoughts to help me with GM?

You should try with your dealer they should help you, mine has the cracks and almost every one i know that has these trucks had the crack my father owns a denali and the dealer fixed it for free, that was 2 years ago his dash is still good i think that the new replacment is fixed or just built better,
Good luck and keep us posted.

My 11 Denali has 2 cracks in the dash One near the steering column one near the air bag. Contacted my dealer and he said he's look into it and returned with "GM warranty does not cover trim pieces". Im going to ask my local dealer when I go for my next oil change. There's also a high end auto detailing place near me that advertises dash repair as a service so I'll look into that as well and update the forum with any luck and pricing I get.

The extended bumper to bumper won't cover it. I know bc i tried lol. I've had 6 GMT900 vehicles 07-14. Only ONE of those vehicles did not have a giant crack in either one or two spots. TERRIBLE of GM to not step up and fix this issue by releasing a TSB for a free fix.

As has been discussed here, GM will cover it but the dealer has to do their legwork. First time replacements are $100 "deductible".

I had my 2010 with 130K Miles (well out of warranty) done in December.

If your dealer isn't helpful, find another one. Any GM (GMC, Cadillac or Chevy) can do the repair.

I lived in Colorado 2011/2012 and asked at two dealerships there. Moved back to Louisiana asked two here. 0 for 4. Brian and said other guys who got a free dash replacement are (Extremely lucky) outliers. I wish I was on that side of the fence lol.

I called the dealer service department. He claims GM will "cover" it with a $600 "deductible". Hmm... So I called my sales manager; he said he would investigate and get back to me. This is my first GM vehicle... they way this is going; it may be my last. We shall see, though. After the sales manager, I'm going to GM directly.

I have owned many vehicles: 3 Hondas (Accord, S2000, Odyssey), 4 Toyotas (Solara, Rav4, 4Runner, Sequoia), 1 Lexus (LX470), 1 Merc (E500), 1 Mini, 1 VW (New Beetle), 1 Chrysler (Pacifica), and 1 GM (Denali). I have never had a dash crack in any of these vehicles. The Lexus leather seat did crack, but at least it got used. The dash doesn't move and has no interaction with people. It is a manufacturing defect. The dash should be able to last 20+ years.
