Short answer for fog light control on high or lows. On fog light relay there is a light green wire that provides a ground for circuit operation cut it and provide a constant ground and it should work on high or low but still cut off when exterior lighting system is cut off completely. That just leaves you getting a protected relay system in there for the to make it a 4 or6-high mod. If 99YUK can't get one for you. I will design a circuit it for you based on the '99 diagrams. Just let me know.



I should add that my fog mod still gives you control of fogs weather you have two (high or low)or four heads on. Don't think I was clear on that.

Any more reprogramming of lighting then that and I will have to take a little longer to redesign the circuits.

Sunlitcomet: I basically just want to have my lows and fogs work as normal, with the switches. Then pull the high beams, and have the highs come on while leaving the fogs or lows the same. Im totally new to car electronics, but willing to work with anything

Then just need to add a relay module to keep lows on when high are switched and rewire that fog relay ground. If you do not used 99YUKS ideal let me know I can make the painless wiring kit work for you some how or you could make your own. Let me know when you get back.

I'm heading out of town today but basically I'm going to look at Yuk99s mod but as of noe it seems to complicated. As painless as possible would be great to start into auto wiring.

Im back in town and baffled by Yuk99's drawing. What does the diode do? and do i need relays on all my hid's?

the diode idea is a cheaper way of getting the 4-hi by making the current flow to the lows when highs are on but unless the diodes are strong enough they may overheat and breakdown. They let the high turn on lows but not vice-versa. I personally prefer a fused relay setup for safety and reliability. if you have hids on high and low and they operate with out dropping out right now with existing wiring then you just need to add a relay circuit to get the 4-hi. For me the more relays the better but if your existing wiring is good enough for individual circuit control than stick with it. A new relay is just installed to control the mod for reliability. So I take it you want a mod drawn for you?

Yup, relays are good. There really should be a relay used for the fogs. wouldn't it be nice if he could use the OEM fogs relay under the dash. You'd have to trace the trigger wire for it and splice the diode in that wire. That would be the easiest? I just don't have time to go look it up right now.(getting ready for work.)


As a side note, I just installed HID's on my wife Trailblazer. That setup needed a relay on each light to work properly. Something about DRL PWM, DRL Killers, Cap Mods, etc. Just to install HIDS! Crazy stuff there. Makes me apreciate how much easier it is to work on my Yukon!

Yes that would be great. Can I buy relays at radio shack or some other store like that.

Yup, RS would have some. I like the ones that come with the wiring harness too. I get mine from Princess Auto HERE.
