if it is shaking it would likely be anything downstream of tranny output shaft. or even a motor or tranny mount. anything forward of the tranny output shaft would be more of a vibration. and if you do rebalance pay attention to the amount of weight each assembly takes it will give you an immediate clue if you have a screwed up tire.

Hahaha seriously?! What's the difference between a vibration and a shake to you?? If his ujoints were bad enough or he stripped some teeth off his pinion gear and it was way out of balance, he would have "shake", not a "vibration".

Still interested in hearing the technical differences between a vibration and a shake as explained by you ... If you can actually do that, that is. :D

google or wiki it. i am not going to sit here and type out mechanical principles. i am kinda getting tired of having to explain everything sometimes. i have done enough of that already by now that i should not have to explain myself over and over and for a simple repair job it is too much to have to get involved in.

I have a 2dr 2wd. Since I have bought it using stock wheels, 15" centerlines to the Ultra 20" 5 spokes I have had this same problem.

I had the drive axle rebalanced with new u-joints.

I still have the shake, shimmy or vibration you are talking about. I have lived with this since I purchased this in 2005.

Drums have been replaced, rotors have been replace. I am down to rear axles.

On mine you can lift the rear wheels off the ground, put truck in gear and its smooth up to about 60-70 mph and then it will go into a real bad shake. I have had it at 5 shops here in Orlando and they have no clue. I even had them replace the tires , move tires from wheels to the other corners etc and still no issue.

We must have an issue with something in our Tahoes.

Which is it, shake or vibration?? They are different according to what's his face lol.

I've had mine up to 100 with no shake, it's not an issue with our Tahoes, just the ones that aren't treated right.

You may have a pinion bearing or axle bearing issue. Could be a couple things in the transmission as well ... does the vibration/shake go away if you get it up to speed and shift it into neutral?
