97 tahoe issue

newb here looking for a lil info /suggestions

i have a 1997 tahoe 4x4 ..about 140kmiles on it ,it was just a extra vehicle for a while now its become my primary for a bit ,,

problem takes a few trys to start turns over fine just wont start till about third try,,gas milage is horrible and there is a really bad smell of fuel,,,im thinking its the fuel injectors/spider web needs to be changed out,just wanted to see if anyone had same issue or try something a little cheaper...

i already did the plugs and wireds and some sensors ...

Welcome.

Firstly, check your fuel lines for any leaks. Especially where the fuel line attaches to the fuel rail at the back of the intake manifold. (under the plug wires) Smelling fuel is not a good thing.

If everything is dry I would say that you have a bad fuel pressure regulator and it is pissing fuel in the intake manifold. Unfortunately you have to pull the upper plenum to replace. It's one of those jobs that as long as you are there you might as well replace the injectors while you are there.

if you have a fuel pressure guage see what your pressure is before you start it and while its running. If you don't you may be able to "borrow" one from a local parts store.

i had the fuel smell but it was the seal on the top of the tank, could faintly smell it in the truck.

fixed it was the injectors runs great now ,got a new code tho p1345,cam sensor or cranck sensor checked the crank sensor and looks good cant see the cam if its loose or not anyone have this code before?

get a scanner that can reag GM Cam retard and follow this:TEST PROCEDURE
The ignition timing cannot be adjusted. The distributor may need adjusting to prevent crossfire. To insure proper alignment of the distributor, perform the following:

With the ignition OFF, install a scan tool to the DLC.
Start the engine and bring to normal operating temperature. IMPORTANT: Cam Retard Offset reading will not be accurate below 1000 RPM.
Increase engine speed to 1000 RPM.
Monitor the Cam Retard Offset.
If the Cam Retard indicates a value of 0°+/-2°, the distributor is properly adjusted.
If the Cam Retard does not indicate 0°+/-2°, the distributor must be adjusted.

ADJUSTING PROCEDURE

With the engine OFF, slightly loosen the distributor hold down bolt. IMPORTANT: Cam Retard Offset reading will not be accurate below 1000 RPM.
Start the engine and raise engine speed to 1000 RPM.
Using a scan tool monitor Cam Retard Offset.
Rotate the distributor as follows:

4.1. To compensate for a negative reading, rotate the distributor in the counterclockwise direction.
4.2. To compensate for a positive reading, rotate the distributor in the clockwise direction.

Repeat step 4 until 0°+/-2°, is obtained.
Turn the ignition OFF.
Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt to 3 Nm (25 lb. ft.).
Start the engine, raise engine speed to 1000 RPM and recheck Camshaft Retard Offset.
