Hi there, My name is Mike and i know this is an old thread but this is the closest example of what my problem is that i have found so far. i have done most of what has been described here short of pulling out the distributor and timing cover. I've made a nice checklist that I am going to go through on the truck today.
But what happened was not putting it away and it didn't start, I was accelerating passed 50% throttle and it started getting a little sluggish so I gave it a little more and then a huge BANG like an intense backfire and the engine died, CEL flashed, Check Gauges. It hasn't started since.
It threw many codes:
P0138
P0154
P0155
P0161
P0405 - was on before this happened
P1153
P1345
P0338
I'm thinking I blew the engine, but it doesn't sound bad, it sounds normal when cranking but it sounds like its out of time. Has fuel, spark, changed the CKP Sensor, new cap and rotor. It has an aftermarket radio that was already installed when I bought the truck, but the alternator recently quit and I replaced it with a 140amp.
TPS sensor checks out at 0.53v and 0%. I have a AutoEnginuity Scan tool at my disposal that I've been using to check everything. The only thing that was cause for concern is the Knock Sensor Reading is a steady 4.86V in run and on starting. It says timing is at 0. No Other codes come up when I'm cranking but the CEL sometimes goes out then comes back on.
It tried starting a little bit after I replaced the crank sensor, it was stumbling for a few seconds and died but it hasn't done that again. Me, and everyone I asked is totally stumped. It Backfires heavy with starter fluid.
I just don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and like i said I will be going through the checklist and diagnostics that were posted here to see if there is something I'm missing.
Thanks,
Mike
