Are they reusing the gear set & existing carrier? Is it a limited slip? This would be the perfect time to put in a limited slip rear and/or replace the Gov Bomb if you already have a G80. I believe the pass car (Caprice, etc) 10 bolt posi carriers will drop right in.

I rebuilt/regeared a GM 10 bolt with bolt-in axles (Olds/Buick) for my '69 A body earlier this year and I was close to $1K all in. I picked up a reconditioned clutch type posi and used 3.42 gear set to replace the 2.56 peg leg in the donor 10 bolt.

they said they would put anything in there I wanted (difference in price would be for parts of course). I just told the I want oem replacement. I figure there is a good 136k out of this current unit. the way I use the truck I wouldn't have to worry ever again. haven't done it yet. just moved into a new place and some other stuff ate my money for now
