Sorry Vortec, been busy with work and forgot to update. Thanks for all the helps guys I got her going last wednesday. Reworking both heads from all the carbon really paid off. Shes as smooth and quiet and silk. I drove it to work last week a couple days then went ahead and took it hunting over the weekend... 250 miles round trip and she never missed a beat thank God.

I also learned my lesson on not using good gas (thanks for the link Comet).

Oil pressure is good and watched each lifter/pushrod pump up while running with the valve covers off to fine tune the rocker arm adjustments. I am also going to be a little more meticulous about oil changes. I always do it by 5or 6k which should be fine but Im also thinking about going to full synthetic. Im going to change again shortly what are yalls thought on running synthetic in a motor thats never had it? Should I just leave it be? I always run castrol GTX 5w30. This last change (when I put it back together I used some castrol high mileage cause it was a special they had. Not too familiar with it though.

I haven't tried Synthetic oils yet myself. Some people claim, that in higher mileage motors, switching to synthetic oil can lead to new oil leaks due to the old conventional oil sludge buildup around the gaskets being cleansed by the new synthetic oil.

In the late 80's, a fellow I knew was running AMSOIL in his engines and he swore by it.

He claimed that even with very little oil in an engine, that it would not seize or overheat.

No issue running synthetic in an engine that's never had it. It's expensive, but if you're running 5k-6k between changes, I would do it. On a gasser, I usually run dino oil to 3k and then change. Synthetic I went to 5k. That's a conservative interval, but I try to take good care of my stuff.

Only 7.3 diesel, I went to 7,500 with synthetic, but that sucker took a LOT of oil.

unknown at this time.
Synthetic does not leak anymore then dino. And gm says normal driving calls for 7500 miles between oil and filters. So going synthetic will not require any interval changes on your part since synthetic can handle that length. In fact use basic synthetic maybe even extended life oils and change it to what the expected mileage life of oil is.

High engine mileage oils of any type have additives the makes your seals swell up in an attempt to slow leaks. Not something you want really.
