My ABS has started activating just before coming to a stop. I remember this from other cars as a sensor/rotor issue, when the signal is wrong. Is there anything well-known on this platform cars that will cause this?

Mine started doing this, so I pulled the ABS fuse out of it. I hate ABS anyway, only thing is you have stare at the ABS light being on.

Yes, usually the sensor in the wheel bearing is going bad. If you haven't replaced the wheel bearing yet, I am sure it won't be too terribly long before you'll need a new one/ Very common issue on these trucks. New wheel bearing comes with a new ABS sensor which usually fixes the ABS issues.

My 02 Tahoe has the same issue. A good(and very careful) cleaning of the wheel bearings will solve it for a little while, but the only true fix is to replace the wheel bearings.:/

Agreed. A bad wheel speed sensor. I've heard that they can be "Cleaned" but this is only a temporary fix and usually when you take it out the wheel speed sensor gets broken so take the advice above as it fits ur budget....
