Hello. I just bought a 2013 Yukon Denali and I bought one of those navigation style accessory that you connect via the cigarette port for apple car play/android auto/BT using the aux cord. I have the port that allows for USB charging as well as two cigarette port usage where you can turn them on/off individually. Anyways, I have it plugged in by the cup holders in the front and when I turned the vehicle off and opened the driver's side door and locked the vehicle, the accessories stayed on including the unit even though the door lights all turned off. I've had 30 ish vehicles thus far and all of my other vehicles (non GM/Chevy) turned off all the accessories like dashcam that was plugged into the cigarette port unless I made it stay on via the fuse box. I don't want to kill the battery so obviously, I turned it off by pressing the button on the port but it's annoying and I might also forget sometime down the road. Is this a Chevy/GM thing for it to stay on??

For decades people complained that the ports shut off with the key and now they complain that they're on all the time.
I power my dash cams from the mirror. My 2009 Yukon allows it to be powered all the time, my 2013 Sierra is key on only up there.

I mean, I wondered why it shut off when I was younger but obviously, it's to conserve the battery to ensure the vehicle will start up the next time I go to turn it on lol I guess some have it where it'll turn off right before when the battery would not start it up the next time but I'm not sure with this issue. I noticed that the battery indicator was like above 14 but it was reading like 12.5 all day yesterday so I unplugged the port/accessory and it stayed right at 14 today. I know with the other vehicles I've had, it stayed around 12-13 so compared to that, 14 is on the higher side, but as I said, I'm new to Chevy/GM so I'm just going off of what I noticed when I first bought it a few days ago.

The Body Control Module controls the output of the alternator. When the engine is running, the voltage will change depending on what the computer wants to do. If the car sits a lot or makes many short runs, the battery will not get fully charged and when the engine is running the computer will likely have it at high output most of the time.
My dash cam goes to sleep and uses minimal power unless it detects an impact or somebody getting too close, then it will come alive for a time, record, and then go back to sleep.
I make it a habit to unplug whatever my wife plugged into the outlets.
