Interesting info. I never would've guessed it would set a code in warmer conditions.

New cars are getting too smart for their own good.

it's basically a failsafe in case one of the sensors has gone goofy, it can only detect so much then it's like "hey take a look"
a lot of functions have a 3x and your out, that way it's not poping engine lights constantly, if you start it and there is a bad handshake between modules once a while then it records each occurance and self-checks for multiple's in a row, if it passes 3x then it forgets it until the next time. some things may only get 2 chance and somethings only 1 like the alternator, abs, srs, etc
