Going to bite the bullet and put a system in my tahoe. ? is where is a good place to run the power through the fire wall. Dont really want to drill a hole for it. To me that just another place for something to happen. Also, running the remote wire, where is a place to hook that up to. Fuse panel? If so to which one? Im keeping the factory radio at the present time. But do have a avic d3 going in soon. Just want a little more bump right now. Its a 05 w/ 3rd row and bose, nav/ radio...

Just a few questions, i searched and didnt really find anything. (tired and didnt search to hard, sorry)

On a side note, thinking about buying the stealth box for center console. Any one have any experience w/ this. Dont want to put a big box in the rear for thieves to see and take it all. Want it hidden. And w/ the 3rd seat back there i dont have much room anyway and use that space often... or any other ideas.. Ive seen the post your system thread. but havent seen the steath box in there..

thanks

mike

i ran my 0 gauge through an existing grommet on the drivers side with a bundle of wires going through it already, i just took a knife and gently cut an X in the grommet and it took a few trys to get the wire through. as far as the remote wire, either tap into something that turns on when the key is in the acc position or you can run a wire from the battery with a switch

also quoted from a previous thread asking this question

"under the drivers side dash is a relay center. if you remove the cover for the relay center and press the two white clips at the top together you can swing the relay center down toward the floor. behind it you will see a large rubber grommet you can run your wiring through."

remote wire just use a wire tap and tap in the stock radio and run it to a relay so you can use it for more accessories later on

the stealth box sounds great for mid bass like the sound that you can't pick up with your sub and is just a little too low for your mids but don't expect nothing big from it, just bite another bullet and build yourself a nice box behind the 3rd row.. hell I'll even make you a design if you shoot me a PM

running 1/0 I drilled a hole just big enough to get a grommet in the door sill on the passengers side and ran it along the groove but from my knowledge there is a grommet you can access that is in the firewall.
it would also be in your best interest to run it under the carpet up the middle because that way you don't run the risk of engine noise when you try to run speaker wire on the same side you ran the 1/0

always want to keep your RCA's and speaker wire away from power wire, its easy to just run the power on drivers side then rca's and speaker wire on the passenger

yeah im not expecting anything big from the stealth box. But just dont really want it to be seen in the rear. And i usually put stuff in the rear. hence my wanting someting out of the way. I like the big bass, and know i could go crazy in the tahoe, but just a nice bump is fine w/ me now. Also b/c my parents are using it also every chance they get.. LOL..
Will send you a pm. Interesting in what you got...

Ok, i couldnt remember which ones not to run together.. Thanks. Guess i'll do power on dr. side and rca's on pass side.

Also, when i change out my door speakers, i got some alpine type s free, how do i undo the factory bose amp and use my own amp to power them.. Just unplug it? sorry kinda new to this bose thing. Not w/ doing little systems, but this bose is a world of its own to me...

Quick question. didnt want to make another thread. but fixing to add an amp for sub. But i cant find the pic that shows which wires to use under the console. I have the bose, i know i need the use the amp wires before it goes to the amp(i think) Can someone post that pic, or tell me which wires im looking for under there. I see the main harness but which wires to i hook up my loc to? Yes im changing to a d3 soon. But for now, just want a little more bass. its a 05 w/ nav and bose.

If you are looking for an easy way to add aftermarket amps to your ride and you are going to run your own wires from the amp to your speakers then you can add one of these: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5272_PAC+OEM-1.html

It will allow you to keep the factory radio with the door chimes and on-star but add an aftermarket amp or you can use this to replace your factory radio while keeping your chimes and onstar. They have several different configurations to suite your needs. I have one in my 2004 Yukon XL to add the sub amplifier and remote wire. You can keep everything else in place so you can restore it to factory later with ease.
