I have been wanting to take my roof rack off so I decided to go for it. I have got everything except the piece in the center of the side rails off ( with no problems and no damage to anything so far)!! And of course the side rail is still mounted on top of that little middle helper type thing. Could someone please help me out, I'm frustrated and really don't want to break the last piece. Also, I am going to want to plug up the holes of course, and water tight, any advice on this? I am most likely going to go with an esky rack down the road so whatever I plug the holes with I will want to be able to get that back out with the holes undamaged. Thanks in advance for any input on this.

Thanks for the thread! I did get it removed with no damage and plugged the holes with shorter black screws (my hoe is dark green, stainless would have stood out worse than the sun on a clear day). I put just a dab of loctite 242 just above the start of the threads on screw, screwed them each (one at a time) in just under half way, then put silicone around the threads at the contact point with the body, and finished screwing them in, wiping excess silicone as I went. I waited 24 hours and then hosed it down good, no leaks. The loctite 242 probably isn't necessary, but I know I can bust it loose and it won't back out on me.
I might sell the rack. If I do sell it will most likely be sold as a complete rack, I don't think I will want to part it out. My rack (okay, I guess I should say roof rack since I am a woman, hope I don't offend anyone here) is not missing any parts, and all parts are in excellent shape with no cracks, etc. etc. I would rate the condition a 9-9.4 out of 10. I will pm you with my number.
