I took my yukon to discount tire the other day to have my wheels looked at. I wanted to get the offset of them if possible. When I got them in March a few days later I noticed on three of the wheels the lug nuts sat back deep in the wheels(meaning you could not see the lug nuts if you were standing over the wheel looking down at it). One of the wheels you could clearly see the lug nuts so this made me think that wheel was a different offset than the other three. Took it back to get this corrected and they said they had to order the wheel because they did not have that offset in stock. Said it would a week, went back and still no wheel, said should be in a day or two. Went back and they were searching for it but could not confirm it was in the shop. an hour later nothing so I started bitching at the owner and all of a sudden he found it. Got it aligned after that, now I'm noticing a little shimmy when I drive, nothing bad but i notice it and it just started about a week or tow ago.
So I decided to go to discount tire and see if they could confirm that i had 4 wheels with the same offset. They confirmed it but told me they found something that could have been very bad for me while driving. They showed me metal clips that fit around the lug bolts up against the hubs. He said those clips should be taken off when going from OEM wheels to after market wheels. They also said several of the lug nuts were only hand tight and it was do to the clips being left on. I have posted a picture of these clips. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm dropping by the shop tomorrow to discuss this with them.
