I have to apologize ahead of time for this rant, lol. Sooo I bring in my 45,000 mi. 2012 LTZ for service 4 days ago for a "Check Suspension System" warning on the dash. First thing the service writer says is that there's a $290 "diagnostic fee" to look at the truck. If it's something that's not covered I have to pay it!
He then tells me it could be an oxygen sensor or a MAF sensor and that it doesn't have to be in the suspension??? Then he tells me struts and bearings and other wear and tear items aren't covered. WTF I think he needs to look at what isn't covered according to the GMPP Major Guard contract! So they have the truck three days and they still haven't looked at it. I waited a month for an appointment so I could get a loaner car from them, which I returned after one day due to the fact it was filthy, not just dirty but it smelled like a family of 8 lived in it for a month and the seats were so stained that it grossed me out to sit on them literally.
I go in there yesterday and speak to the service manager and tell him I want my truck back and i'll take it to another dealer. He's an awfully nice guy and apologized up and down and begged me to leave it one more day, there wouldn't be a diagnostic charge and he'd stay on top of it. Shame is I've bought about a dozen SUV's and cars from that dealership in the last 10 years or so. They were recently bought by another chevy dealer that owns other Chevy stores. When they were small I had a great relationship with them. Now I'm Joe Shmo, just another customer. They lost me as a customer after this. Thanks I feel better now!

Well picked up the truck. Here's what was going on. The service manager is a great guy. I am very close with the sales manager and manger of the dealership. When the sales manager saw me and heard what went on he told me to see him whenever I need service. He'll get me right in and make sure i'm treated right. I just hate having to go that route. I can understand what went on. I'm in a service type business also. They are in the process of putting in new lifts and from what I understand very busy with recalls. The service writer is new and not familiar with GM warranties. To make a long story short they found a wire harness in the rear of the truck was rubbing the chassis somewhere above the spare tire causing the Service Suspension warning. I'm hoping that was it because after I got back in the truck the warning was still there! They told me that it was never cleared out of the computer??? And to top it off the service writer tells me there's a $100 deductable!!! Told him no way with a Major Guard policy. Service manager corrected him. All is good right now. hard to go anywhere else because all the years they were great.

Oh and thank you Kristen for your reply. Wish you were onboard when I had issues with water leaks back in 2004 with a new Avalanche. Carpet was soaked in the back seat the day I took it home. I never saw it at the dealer. I couldn't get a hold of GM customer service no matter what I did. Stayed on the phone like an idiot for hours! After 6 months I contacted the BBB and started the lemon law process I finally got a phone call. This dealer helped me to get rid of the lemon!
