Nope, I just cut half of the bottom of mine out closest to the fender, away from engine heat. I have this Airaid btw. Love it, really hear and feel a bit of a difference. Compliments any exhaust work you have too!

when i did may elcheapo ebay cold air tube and cone filter, i also took out the plate that the old filter box sat on, so its open straight to the road, completely open. i figure that air is as cool as its gonna get, and its gonna circulate some so engine bay air wont get into the mix as much.

good move? bad decision? performance seems the same as factory intake, its a good bit louder now though when my foot is in it.

now that im thinking about it, i may put my factory box back in on the new tube and see how different it is. im curious if throttle response will change any, or if in cabin noise will drop. i do love me some quiet...
