I have searched this forum and youtube. I read threads saying it takes one hour and watched youtube video showing how easy it is. Seems like my projects always take way longer and always run into issues that are never covered in the DIY. Rant over...sorry. I have a 2005 4wd Tahoe with Tony's 2/3 kit. I removed the rear passenger wheel and I don't see how to get the hose at the top of the coil. I placed a jack stand on part of the frame so the I could lower the axle. Do I have to unbolt the shock and sway bar to get additional clearance? Plus the kit I ordered didn't come with a heat shield for some odd reason, so I have to fabricate one using an old license plate. Thanks for any insight.

It's always easier to remove the springs to do it. Disconnect sway bar and shocks. There's a whole in the top cup to run the hose. I never used the heat shields on any of mine and were always fine.

Thanks, I just found the whole in the top. Going to try to squeeze them through. Just don't want to take springs out again. Last time no fun...

Well I got the airlift 1000 bags installed. I routed the airline to the underside of the right side of the bumper and installed the air valve. I like the location since I didn't have to mess up the face of the bumper. I removed the wheel to get better access and used some Teflon spray to assist the bags through the springs. Thanks for the input and I never seem to figure out how to post pics...

Wow, what a difference bags make! Pumped them up to 35psi and it towed great. Never bottomed out and felt very planted. Pulled a 23ft trialer with load distribution hitch. Now I have a red light on the transfer selector indicating neutral. Always something...

I've been running airlift bags and onboard compressor for 12-13 years now on my pick up and have had to replace the bags once about 3 years ago due to rubber drying out but otherwise they are great and being able to control my lift on the fly is the best part..... Get the onboard compressor you wont regret it

nice!!! Some ******* at truck toyz in san leandro years back drilled holes on my perfect rear chrome bumper with out asking me first. There were so many other places do put the valves, plus I had an airlift compressor installed also, so technically, id did not even need the valve stems. I've seen people mount them through the licence plate holes also.
