yeah even if they kill your sirens at least your pager goes off so you might get a chance to have a little fun.

This is why install is just as important, if not MORE important, than the product.

While I share Eagle's view of DEI's monopolizing control in the area of security systems, JK is correct. They are a reliable company that will probably be around for a long time and for the most part, their product is pretty reliable. Even if they are buying out other products and putting their DEI stamp on it, you are still now buying a "DEI product".

As for install, and I am sure JK will agree:

Don't mount the alarm brain where it is easily accessible. Depending on the type of alarm, if a thief can reach it and disconnect it, then he can disable it.

Don't mount the siren where it is easily accessible. If the thief can access it and cut the wires, then the alarm is silenced in seconds. Even if you have a battery back up siren, and thief can just muffle it with a rag or shirt, which is why people go with multiple sirens and mutiple inside piezos.

Try and match all your new alarm wires to your factory wiring, making it harder for a thief to deal with.

While nothing is theft-proof, the above will put you many steps ahead of a thief.

great advice... I would add a latching ignition kill circuit that runs off the alarm (if you have an aux that works when disarmed).

It makes it impossible to start the vehicle if you disable the alarm.
it makes it impossible to start even if you have the key.
It makes it impossible to start with the remote + key unless you know to trigger the ignition kill from the remote first.

it makes it impossible to valet or add a remote unless unless you know to trigger the ignition kill from the remote first.

When they were drive-a-way stealing H2s and Escalades at the rate of one every 2-3 days here a few years back, people still were dumb enough to not get an aftermarket alarm with 2way pager and ignition lockout installed. One lady had her H2 for <48 minutes. She drove home, went inside to call her GF to come over and look at it, and it was gone by the time she got off the phone. 90% of them were never recovered- they wound up in Mexico within 5-10 minutes of being stolen.

Sadly nothing stops a truly determined thief since they will flatbed it with a Stealth repo truck if needs be, but you can make it easier for them to just chose someone else.

I'll be honest. I don;t remember 150% if it was the am 1 way pagers that had the blue 911 on them or the remote start two way pagers.

I'm pretty sure after looking at a picture of a remote start 850LCD, that that is a remote for an RS 850LCD. I think the 855LCD had a different color car, and a butt load of them came in fake carbon fiber paint schemes.

I'm looking at getting the Viper 5901 in the next few weeks for my 01 Yukon, I'm wondering if you have any specific tricks, tips, problems that you came across with your installs of this alarm. I'll be getting tilt, backup batt, extra powered siren. I'm curious if you think the radar module is worth installing, or the glass break mic/sensor. Also what Bypass Module are you using, and why? DLPKGM or XK06? It looks as though you need to flash the XK06 Firmware depending on the application? Any Insight, experience, or suggestions with this alarm install will be helpfull! Thanks everyone!

Prepping for install, I guess I'll just ask some specific questions.

2001 Yukon
Alarm/modules:
Viper 5901
DLPKGM Bypass Module
507M Tilt Sensor
508D Motion Sensor
520T Backup Battery
513T Mini Peizo Siren

Questions:
1. The DLPKGM Will bypass Passlock, and give the tach info via D2D, but I don't think it will do the door locks/factory arm/disarm like it will for the 2003 and up tahoe/yukon. What is the proper way to interface with the door locks/factory disarm? Do I need to use relays for all of these? or can I connect directly with the wires at the BCM?

2. How do I make sure the progressive locks work properly.

3. Parking lights - can I connect to the BCM? Viper manual says it can power up to 10 amps without a relay, do I need a relay? Or is there a better spot to tap into?

4. Has anyone hooked up to the rear defrost to engage on autostart? How did you do it/where is the wire to tap into?

5. Dome light supervision. Is this necessary at all? Relay needed?

That's all I can think of right now, thanks for any help!! :)

1. The DLPKGM will not control the door locks. All you need to do is splice into the lt. blue and white lock/unlock wires at the bcm. Should be pins A3 and A4 at the brown bcm connector.

2. The alarm default is set to progressive locks triggering. When the alarm is armed and you open the door, the alarm will chirp for a few seconds before it goes into full alarm tone.

3.You can tap into the negative light supply at the BCM w/o any add'l relays. The wire is white, pin A5 on the lt. blue plug.

4. I connected the rear defrost and heated seats on mine. IIRC, the rear defrost wire is white. It sends a neg signal to activate the relay that sends power to the defrost grid.

5. Dome supervision isnt necessary and does not need a relay if you do decide to connect it.

Thank you for the reply!

Just got in from part 1 of the install, hooked up everything but the remote start/ignition wires.

1.Yep the locks work great.

2. by progressive locks I meant once unlocks driver door, twice unlocks the rest, not the progressive door alarm :)

3. I connected the parking lamps via the positive and it seems to power them just fine :) I'll switch to neg. if any issues come up with it.

4. where did you tap into the rear defrost signal wire? Which signal wire did you hook it up to on the viper? did you use a doide? As far as the heated seats same questions, I read somewhere that you need to solder into the traces on the door switch using a relay and a 2k resistor, is this what you did?

5. Yeah stock dome supervision works just fine.

Questions for the heavy guage remote start wires:

1. It seems like there are more wires on the viper harness than I may need to use, which ones will I be using/not using? the ones I'm unsure about are the Red, Red/White, Red/Black 12+ constant (do these all connect to the Red constant power from the vehicle?) and the Pink/White, Pink/Black Flex Relay wires, are these used?

2. I do need to hook up the orange accessory wire correct?

3. the only wire that I am actually cutting will be the yellow starter wire correct? everything else is just splicing in?

4. I know that both the pink and the white ignition wire need to be powered, do they both connect to the same pink wire on the viper? or does pink go to pink, and the white goes to one of the other wires?

5. tilt sensor, did you place it the long way front to rear of veh? side to side? diagonal? just want to know what the most effective positioning is for this.

6. Is there anything that needs to be done to turn off the Retained Accessory Power after a remote start shutdown, or failed start?

Thank You!!!!!!
