√This is why install is just as important, if not MORE important, than the product.
While I share Eagle's view of DEI's monopolizing control in the area of security systems, JK is correct. They are a reliable company that will probably be around for a long time and for the most part, their product is pretty reliable. Even if they are buying out other products and putting their DEI stamp on it, you are still now buying a "DEI product".
As for install, and I am sure JK will agree:
Don't mount the alarm brain where it is easily accessible. Depending on the type of alarm, if a thief can reach it and disconnect it, then he can disable it.
Don't mount the siren where it is easily accessible. If the thief can access it and cut the wires, then the alarm is silenced in seconds. Even if you have a battery back up siren, and thief can just muffle it with a rag or shirt, which is why people go with multiple sirens and mutiple inside piezos.
Try and match all your new alarm wires to your factory wiring, making it harder for a thief to deal with.
While nothing is theft-proof, the above will put you many steps ahead of a thief.
Questions:
1. The DLPKGM Will bypass Passlock, and give the tach info via D2D, but I don't think it will do the door locks/factory arm/disarm like it will for the 2003 and up tahoe/yukon. What is the proper way to interface with the door locks/factory disarm? Do I need to use relays for all of these? or can I connect directly with the wires at the BCM?
2. How do I make sure the progressive locks work properly.
3. Parking lights - can I connect to the BCM? Viper manual says it can power up to 10 amps without a relay, do I need a relay? Or is there a better spot to tap into?
4. Has anyone hooked up to the rear defrost to engage on autostart? How did you do it/where is the wire to tap into?
5. Dome light supervision. Is this necessary at all? Relay needed?
That's all I can think of right now, thanks for any help!!
