Ok so I have a really annoying screeching sound coming from the rear of my truck and I have NO IDEA what it is... Basically when turning right (even slightly) I get a metal on metal type sound from the drivers side rear wheel area. Turning left it does not do it, if I keep it perfectly straight it does not do it, but the second I start turning right it makes noise. I changed pads/rotors and that did not help (needed to be done anyway, was just hoping that would solve it).

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? The fact that it only happens when turning right is whats stumping me... Thought diff or wheel bearing, but either of those shouldn't be effected by the direction the truck is turning...

Thanks for any help!
Evan
PS- Still having the ABS/Traction Light when turning either direction, maybe this is related? I haven't taken it in for the "Slow turn ABS" service bulletin yet tho...

Ask for your wife to get out of the back seat, it should go away then. j/k, sorry - couldn't let it pass.

AMG ETR,

Have you been into your dealership yet for this issue? It is possible the bulletin you’re referring to could be the issue. I advise you to speak with your dealership to confirm what the exact issue is.

Thank you

Upstate: HAHA

GM Cust: I have not been to the dealership yet, but I will look into it soon.

02: Checked that, and it only happens when turning right, which is very strange....

Will do! I also have the chrome pealing off my door handle issue like everyone else, so hopefully they will cover that...

Ok so I threw my truck on a lift and decided to diagnose the issue myself and found it. The issue was one of the caliper "clips" (that the pads slide into) was barely touching the rotor on the outside. Therefore when the truck turned that certain direction and the axel/rotor assembly shifted that tiny bit it would contact that piece and make the metal on metal sound. So that issue is finally solved :)

Now onto the ABS/Traction Control issue and chrome door handle pealing issue (both will have to go to the dealer). Will make an appointment soon!
