Here’s another alternative for those looking to either replace the stock 8” sub or add a sub if your ‘** didn’t come with one. It may not bump like a couple of 12s, but it puts out some pretty good sound, especially for a shallow depth 10”, and it’s a HUGE improvement over the factory 8.” It’s pretty inexpensive compared to replacing the stock housing with a Q-form and going from there. The box fits perfectly between the two seat handles and the rear hatch threshold. Also notice the wire terminal box we mounted. This way, if I want to take it out, I can just unplug the wires and I’m good to go. No loose/hot wires laying around to get tangled or short out. Oh, and he doesn’t have it yet but I’m getting a sub knob to mount under the dash so I can adjust the volume without having to navigate through the head unit.

Pioneer factory loaded sub– TS-SWX251 rated at 800 w max./200w nominal

Crossfire amp – BMF200.2 - 200 watts, continuous power, not max.
Sub, amp, wires, knob, labor, the whole thing for $400.

Nice setup, I've been thinking about something similar until I heard that jacob(from sundown) is making a new 8 that's for a sealed enclosure. It's a smaller magnet so it doesn't need much room to mount, figure it would be perfect for the factory location. :)

I don't know much about subs, but do you think you're going to get the same sound out of an 8" that you will a 10"? Seems like I read in a thread somewhere that someone replaced the factory 8" with a different 8" and it actually sounded worse, although to be honest, I thought about trying to find an 8" but in talking with my friend (who btw sold me and installed my system) talked me out of it, he said bang for the buck, I'd be better off to go with something bigger rather than replacing the 8". I just looked at your sig and your system, IMHO, if you've gone to the trouble of upgrading everthing else to the level you have, I would think an 8" sub just isn't going to do the rest of the system justice. I've seen center consol replacements that are built to hold a downward firing 10 or 12, if you don't want a box lying around like mine, and you have the coin, that might be something to think about.

Nice set up. Those new sundown 8s are pretty impressive. If I get tired of my setup and want to more cargo space, that is something I'd probably do next.
