i have a high performance oil pump so my idle is about 50 then it shoots up to about 80 when im driving...however when im comin to a stop it drops all the way down to 0 then goes back up a bit to about 40...

LOL this is EXACTLY what I am talking about!! 0PSI is bad especially on a 500 horse 385 ...

Also there is no such thing as a high performance oil pump, it's either high volume or high pressure, both are pretty much worthless on our setups.

It sounds like your pump is getting starved when applying the brakes. That is not a good thing.

I have one important note to add which I should have mentioned earlier: Do not reuse the oil pump drive shaft retainer. Always use a new one.

There is a metal sleeve option out there, that is a better option then the nylon sleeve. Might wanna look into that.

Ok so I'm not sure if I got a new retainer or not... but here's what I ordered online from Advance.....
Melling part no.
155s, pickup tube (advance sku: 15680007)
Is-55e, shaft w/ steel shaft guide (3681491)
M155, standard pressure pump, (19690706)

total cost: 52.00ish
"Dealio" promo code 20.00 off of 50.00
Final cost: 32.00ish

THE REASON I PUT THE SKU NUMBERS THERE WAS I SEARCHED USING MELLING PART NUMBERS AND GOT NOTHING..... CALLED ADVANCE CORPORATE AND THEY REVERSE LOOKED IT UP AND USING THE SKU'S I WAS ABLE TO ORDER ONLINE AND GET A 40% DISCOUNT.....

There is a small nylon tube thing in the oil pump box... not sure if that's the replacement shaft guide or not..... but I just don't know what a oil pump shaft retainer looks like......

well today a friend of mine came over and we have finally diagnosed the weird noise... turns out the flex plate bolts have started backing out and the flex plate is loose... funny how the dealer ship didn't notice that when they "supposedly" unbolted the torque converter... they will be hearing from me and i will be getting my money back... also ordered a case of Amsoil ATF from EBay so lets hope its worth its weight.... should have everything is back together next sunday

Holy freakin crap!!

Some techs just do what they are told, instead of trying to actually diagnose. :Boo:

This is what I'm talking about...

There is no excuse for this..

Damn, I would be soooo freakin mad.....and I used to work at a dealership (18 years ago) but still I took pride in my work and diagnosing the job correctly.

I hope you ream their ass and demand your money back, talk to the GM/Owner and threaten to call General Motors customer care if they dont take care of you.

Glad you found the problem.
