He is the first one to finish an installation with the stud top I think, so its normal to run into minor issues like that. Similar to the issue I ran into with the included plastic bushings.

Here is his build thread for anyone looking, http://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...hevy-silverado-project-charlie-murphy-489579/

You must of edited your OP i guess, b/c on it, you suggest getting a the better bushing for the stud mount. Unless that is the one he has, do not remember at the time.
Either way, im keeping an eye on his thread. He is very hands on.

Glad you brought this over here Atomic, thanks.

Yes I suggested that based on feedback from him. It looks like in addition to the better bushing you want to use some sort of large fender washer or williams washer to better distribute the weight.

No problem, let me know when you want to try them out for yourself! ;)

I am going to try them for sure. After the holidays and having a Tahoe full of people, i have to do something to fix the ride. Front and rear shocks. Currently the shocks are way to long and have about 2" of rebound if that.
Thinking adjustable shocks for the rear and your kit for the front w/ adjustable shocks. But confused on what springs & what size shocks for my application. As taking them all off and measuring is not going to be the easiest, but assuming that is the best way to order the correct shocks.

Just awaiting someone on GMFS to get back with me other wise i will be ordering from you soon.

I was on the RideTech site tonight, and there airbag/shock setup for the Yukon mounts to the stock upper shock mount with no extra reinforcing bracket. either the upper OEM mounts are very strong or, they haven't had any issues yet.

Amongst my research there are a couple people that have no reinforcement on the upper perch. Sure atomic can chime in on his experience.
Looks like they use the Eye to Stud Adapter to mount to the upper, which to me is not a reinforcement, but not straight to frame either. So that could help.

Interesting bottom bracket they use.

Here is ridetech coil overs on a truck. Wonder what mount is on the top of this one?

I tgink this is the right solution for the upper wear you could face

Shocks are sized based on the ride height you want. If you can measure from the lower shock bolt on the LCA to the top of the shock hoop I can tell you about what size you need. Springs are based on the shock used and the weight of the vehicle. You can adjust the height somewhat by increasing or decreasing preload on the spring.

Both most like, but how much do you trust a mount that was designed for shock only and not to carry the full weight?

I have seen plenty of people that do nut use any type of upper reinforcement, but how much do you trust that part? They all seem hesitant about it, which is why I made the upper mounts anyway. You dont have to use my uppers if you want to switch to coilovers.

The LCA for the 2wds are much different than the 4wds.

I believe that upper mount is specific to ridetech coilovers, which are fine by all means, but I designed the top mounts with qa1s in mind. If the ridetech style will work with my brackets I dont know.

Sale ends tomorrow at midnight!

I think that upper is ridetech only. Cant find much else on it.

I will try to measure what you stated and get back with you.

This may be a question most will know, but i do not and if i dont know something i ask regardless of how simple it may be. One can always learn, but what is "Preload" I see that a lot searching springs? Could someone simplify that.

Hey guys, I have been making these for a while but wanted to see if there was any interest on this forum for this sort of thing. Its a bolt on kit that allows you to use aftermarket coilover shocks instead of the factory torsion bars on 4wd gmt800 trucks/suvs.

I did this on my truck (99 silverado) and have about 1000 miles on it and it works great. I have mine set up for drag racing so the CVs are perfectly level, but the same idea will work if you want to go lower or higher. You can get around a 4" drop with the factory spindle and LCA, or a 3-4" lift in front with the factory hardware. And the best part is you have dozens of spring rates and shocks to choose from so you can have your truck ride exactly how you want it. Weight savings is about 40lbs but that wasnt really the point of me making these.

I am at work so I cant post pictures, but they are fully welded 3/8" steel with 1/2" grade 8 hardware and powdercoated flat black. I sell the seperate lower bracket (which you need), and an upper bracket that reinforces the shock hoop (optional). Both together are $350 and either seperate is $200. The whole swap can be done for around $700-800 depending on what parts you use (brands of shocks/springs). I only sell the brackets.

Anyway, let me know if there is any interest and I will post up my full write up. I sell these on a couple other forums, mainly GMFS and performancetrucks.net.

I am new to this forum, but not to others, im a supermod on PT with close to 10k posts, and have almost 7k on FSC and about 1k on gmfs.

Thanks

glad to see you on this forum, this is "sleeperlqx" from PT. And this was actually one of my questions I had for you besides my turbo stuff, cause Im going with the brackets and this kit possibly for better handling.
