Thanks for the pointers. I'll have to try the cigar smoke trick. The only issue with ordering the gaskets first is the fact that I would be stuck with finding an OEM intake manifold. If I go with an entire new dorman intake manifold it will come with gaskets for much less $.

Well then do this test I pulled from AllData

9. Inspect the intake manifold cylinder head deck for warpage.

9.1. Locate a straight edge across the intake manifold cylinder head deck
surface.

9.2. Position the straight edge across a minimum of two runner port
openings.

Insert a feeler gauge between the intake manifold and the straight edge.
An intake manifold with warpage in excess of 3 mm (0.118 inch) over a 200 mm (7.87 inch) area is warped and should be replaced.

Here's the kicker....Once you pull it to check for warping you'll need to replace the gasket.

I have a good Intake laying around if you need one.. No biggie I'd sell it cheap.

Also the only other way coolant loss can happen (w/o seeing it external) is through a cracked head. Search Castech heads... You'll see!

Some vehicles are truly a PITA, if someone ever asks you to help him with a 1994 toyota 4-runner 3.0 v6, run the other way!! I sold the truck shortly after tackling that nightmare!! lol
Hopefully doing the intake gasket for your truck goes well, keep us informed on your progress!

UPDATE: I changed out the intake manifold gaskets yesterday only to finish and now have 2 codes P0300 (random misfire) and P0200 (fuel injector fault). So I'm thinking an injector isn't getting power or has completely crapped out. Unfortunately I don't have access to the scan tool at the moment to see the misfire counter.

Make sure the connector for each injector is properly seated. If you pulled on the wires to disconnect them for removal this may have led to the problem. Check each connector thoroughly and ensure that none of the wires have been broken or terminals pulled out.

Solved the problem... wound up being a clogged injector.
