Anyone do a SFA swap on here?

Going to start slowly putting together the parts to do the swap on the HOE, and was wondering if anyone on here had done it on a FSC.

Leaning toward replacing the front and rears with 8 lug axles, air lockers and lower gears, found some 9" or 11" lift springs that go with the bolt on SFA kits (if i go that route), dropping in a manual trans and a better t-case to go along with it. Figured if I'm going to do it, to really ****** do it. It won't be a fast process on top of all the other crap thats going on, but there were an abundance of 8 lug rears up at the yards, and a few 8 lug fronts in some older trucks. couple trans' up there as well.


so if anyone has any info or good write ups from other forums please post them up.

Need to know:
-Which front end (8 lug)
-Leafs Front and Rear (or a link to a different set-up)
-SFA swap kit (bolt on or better)
-Rear End (8 lug out of a 3500?)
-I'm assuming when i have the new shafts made i can have them set them up to go between the T-case-diffs without having to use adapters?
-5 speed (3500 as well? or is there a 6 speed that will bolt up?)
-T-case (entire drive train out of a 3500 -engine?)

Find your self a 1978-79 Ford hi pinion Dana 60 front diff if you can.
If not, get a Ford Dana 60 diff from any year up to 1991 (after that they went to ball joint style which you dont want if your gonna wheel hard, stay with king pin)
Recommend a NP205 transfer case, there cast iron, and gears, tough as all hell.
Rear diff, stick with GM 14 bolt full floater, easy to work on and set up as well as having kits available for disc brake conversions.
If you want a manual, you gotta go with the NV4500 or recommend sticking auto using a TH400.
i have tons of info, i have not done the swap but have used offroad unlimited parts and know alot about wheeling and the 1 ton axles and stuff.
I have built an entire truck using all top notch 1 ton parts, tranny engine, including doing ARB air locker, spool in rear.....you name it.
I do know that these are the best SFA kits available though and are quite complete as far as brackets, leafs, crossover steering, shock hoops....etc.

I'd only add that you'll want to make sure your front and rear bolt patterns are the same, so you aren't having to carry two different spares...

Dana 60 from the years i mentioned and the gm 14 bolt full floater are the same bolt pattern, 8 on 6.5".

I did a SAS on my 94.

Fabbed up by me and a buddy,

GM D60
14 bolt
4.56's
Detroits front and rear
2.5" skyjacker springs front and 8" rears
swapped Tcase from a solid axle 'burban(NV241)
Slip yoke eliminator,
Custom Crossmembers and skid plates
Hydraulic steering assist
winches front and rear
36" iroks

I lucked out cuz it works great on the trails, and handles pretty decent on road all things considered. Let me know if you want more pics of the specifics, happy to help where I can.
